
Harvest time is usually a high point on Albertan farms. Not so this year. The prairies were pummeled by one natural curveball after another. Record heat and scarce rain baked crops on Jason Schnieder's fields, making them barely good enough for cattle feed. While he'll dust himself off and prepare for better times next season, he says there are only so many bad years a farm can absorb.
