My family moved to Deer Ridge last year and we couldn't be happier. The kids' school is great, the parks are beautiful, and the community events are fantastic.

We sold our place in Citadel last month and it went in 4 days. The market in that area is really hot right now, especially for family homes.

We used FullVIN before buying our last car. Came back clean which gave us peace of mind. Definitely recommend checking before you buy.

My recommendation: spend a weekend in Forest Lawn before buying. Walk around, check out the local shops, talk to people. You'll get a feel for whether it's your vibe pretty quickly. Can't wait for the next game.

Property taxes in Calgary are definitely going up but honestly they're still way better than what my friends pay in Toronto or Vancouver. And no land transfer tax in Alberta which saved us thousands.

Hope that helps.

For what it's worth - cell phone bills in Calgary are still too high compared to other countries but the deals are getting better. BYOD plans are the way to go - don't finance through a carrier.

Good luck!

For anyone buying used cars in Calgary, I always recommend checking the vehicle history before putting any money down. Sites like FullVIN give you the full history report so you know exactly what you're getting.
