iCloud question, combining devices

Right now I have separate iCloud accounts for my iPhone and iPad. But they have the same iTunes account to share purchases. If on the iPad I use the same iCloud account as the iPhone. But set the iPad messages/FaceTime to the iCloud Email only then on the iPhone I make sure thr messages/FaceTime is...
