How to take care of mother-in-law with varicose vein?

Hi, my mother in law came to our house to stay with us for a couple of weeks. I have been told by my husband that she is suffering from a varicose vein and is undergoing varicose veins treatments from Thornhill. He told that proper care should be given to his mom as he also won't be there during that time. I don't know how to take care of elderly people. Can anyone of you please give some suggestions on how to take care of my mother in law?
