Legality of branded/locked cell phones
Fixed line operators can sell phones but cannot lock out features which a subscriber wants and cannot do anything to prevent the use of non-operator provided phones.
So why are the cell phone providers given such a liberal license to do whatever they want. Afterall they are just a service provider and not by any means the only retailers of cell phones. So either fixed line providers are being poorly done by or cell phone providers are being given benefits way beyond reasonable. There should be a movement to get these unfair biz practices outlawed. And the SAF is a really laughable liberty - technically we have paid for that network to be built and managed. And then we have to pay to use our own network ??? |
