Live streaming will play a major role in digital, social, and influencer marketing in the coming years. Periscope, Facebook Live, Meerkat, and Blab will all fight for a place in every marketer's ad budget. And, even though YouTube has offered live streaming for some time, this new generation of live streaming offers a sense of community and authenticity that seems to hypnotize the masses.
When I first started using Periscope, I watched one scope after another for days. I was hooked. There was something truly fascinating about watching someone present a session on crafting the perfect blog post, live - no script, cats and children in the background, and the camera falling over at least 6 times. It made me feel better about mentioning the "craft beer dabbler" thing in my Huffington Post profile.
Bloopers and all, women entrepreneurs on Periscope are doing great things. And they're doing them while they walk their kids to school, or prepare dinner for the family, or remove their makeup for the day.
Here are 6 great ways women entrepreneurs are winning with Periscope.
#1. Promoting a book
Jenna Wolfe (http://periscope.tv/jennawolfe) (@jennawolfe), TV journalist and Lifestyle and Fitness expert, uses Periscope to live stream workouts, share her every day activities and experiences, and interact with her fans. Wolfe has even used Periscope to live stream a digital book tour to promote her book Thinner in 30: Small Changes That Add Up to Big Weight Loss in Just 30 Days.
In a phone interview (http://biztechwomen.com/jenna-wolfe-discusses-why-she-loves-periscope/), Wolfe says, "live streaming is the next generation of what television was years ago," bloopers and all. Wolfe sees live streaming as information coming at you the way we experience it and live it. For Wolfe, there's something very exciting, truthful and beautiful about that.
Wolfe has found that her followers truly appreciate the authenticity of her scopes. She rarely wears makeup and she's often just coming home from the gym when she starts a broadcast.

Coles recently launched a beta-workshop for actors and comedians. She says "my goal is to continue to grow and launch my digital academies using Periscope as one of the ways to help spread the word."
Coles finally learned how to stop her Periscope broadcasts. She's famous for making people laugh because she didn't know how to end them.

Ford started to see a trend of business owners wanting to use Periscope for marketing so she added Periscope marketing to her service offerings. She offered a free Periscope course on YouTube, including a 5-day challenge group, that has been used by thousands of scopers to help them get started using the platform.
Ford has secured paid sponsorships and she receives free products in exchange for product exposure. She has almost 11,000 followers on Periscope.

Initially, I planned to deliver the conference content using webinars and videos. After learning about Periscope, and really enjoying the interactive nature of live streaming, I decided to test the platform to see how effective and efficient a virtual conference would be.
There were some challenges (http://start.westnet.ca/newstempch.php?article=genia-stevens-mba/developing-a-virtual-conf_b_8914498.html) using Periscope as a virtual conference platform, but the conference was an overall success. I'm so confident live streaming is a great alternate platform for virtual conferences, that I've added Facebook Live to the next conference.
