One thing I've learned: couldn't disagree more actually lol. I've had the opposite experience but hey, that's what makes Calgary interesting - everyone's got their own take on things.

The market right now is competitive but not insane like Toronto or Vancouver. You can still get a nice detached home under $600K in a good neighborhood if you're willing to look at Cliff Bungalow or Skyview Ranch.

Just want to add - if you're new to Calgary, download the Calgary Transit app and explore the C-Train system.
As a parent, i think people don't give Calgary enough credit. Coming from Toronto, the quality of life here is way better for the money. Plus no PST!

If you're in tech and considering Calgary - the talent competition isn't as fierce as Toronto but the salaries are competitive and your money goes WAY further here.

Hope that helps.

The road trip to Edmonton for the Battle of Alberta is an annual tradition for our group. The drive up, the game, the trash talk - it's the best. no cap

Just bought in Belmont and I'm blown away by how friendly the neighbors are. Within the first week, three different families came by to introduce themselves.

I'd recommend driving through Shaganappi at different times of day before you commit. Traffic patterns and noise levels can vary a lot between morning and evening.
