Is it possible to downgrade a new/refurb iPhone 4S with IOS 6 to IOS5?

I saw the other thread about downgrading an iphone 5 to IOS 5x, but my question (and my search mojo may have been lacking) is whether it is possible to downgrade a refurbed 4S (which AT&T has been selling) that ships with IOS6 to IOS 5.x TIA
