Best way to minimize cancellation fee?

My plan ends Sept 30 and I haven't given 1 month's notice, which I believe means I still have to pay for another month (or something to that effect). Is there any way to avoid the cancellation fee or reduce it? I will probably be switching to Rogers and will need to port my number. I've read that...
