How do I make my iPhone 5 work in Canada?

Taking a 4 week RV vacation in the maritime provinces in June. My iPhone 5 is on Wal Mart Straight Talk, and they tell me it will not work in Canada. Is this as simple as buying a prepaid SIM for the month I'm in Canada? And from who? TIA, Fred W
