Default National Briefing | Washington: New Rule Requires Ships to Treat Ballast Dumped in U.
Oceangoing cargo ships will be required to treat ballast water with ultraviolet light, chemicals or other methods before dumping it in United States waters, the Coast Guard announced Friday.
