Default Question about selling locked phone

Hi -switched from Wind to Telus and got a Note 4 via corporate account -*Question #1:* says on receipt "device must be activate for at least 6 months" or else the tab balance must be paid I already have an S5, so does that mean I MUST use the SIM with the Note 4 and NOT the s5 or else...
