Shawn Mendes is out to spread a message of hope and positivity, and he’s getting some help from his fans.
The "Life of the Party" singer has relaunched his #NotesFromShawn campaign with DoSomething.org encouraging people to leave notes with positive messages wherever they can for others in need of a confidence boost. The project, which Mendes also promoted last year, is back to help increase self-esteem and reduce thoughts of self-harm. The singer (and Taylor Swift's "1989" tour opener) explained on Instagram that he has seen the effects of depression through his friends and fans and encouraged his 3.9 million followers to leave a positive note for someone who may need it.
Since the campaign relaunched on August 4, more than 26,000 people have signed up to participate. Mendes' fans, known collectively as the Mendes Army, have wasted no time in spreading the word and sharing their notes. going to put these up now!! #NotesFromShawn @ShawnMendes @Shawn_Access @dosomething pic.twitter.com/QLrFmLBKMq Yesterday I posted about 75 #NotesFromShawn around town then watched people smile at them.
