I thought I knew a lot about female sexuality, but after having sex expert Emily Nagoski come by the show, I realized how much more there was to it! Emily has been writing and educating about sex for 20 years, and has taken special interest in helping women achieve more pleasure, more often, and more confidently. She has a bestselling new book out called Come as You Are: The Surprising New Science that Will Transform Your Sex Life, and we covered all the bases in our chat together.
When You're Too Busy To "Get Busy" For busy couples, finding time to get intimate can seem impossible. And while sex can definitely take on a lower priority than it did on your honeymoon, Emily argues that it should still have some priority. Research shows "One of the defining characteristics in a quality longterm relationship is prioritizing sex." This isn't as firm as setting a date a time, but “it does take a decision”, and it does require both partners to commit a little bit of energy. “Partition off a little window of time where the only thing you're going to be doing is putting your body in intimate contact with your partner's bod,” says Emily. “And see what happens when you touch each other!” Emily stresses the importance of contact and stimulus leading to desire, not necessarily the other way around. Free your mind, let your skin touch each other, and see what happens! Who knows, it might lead to something you'll like to do more frequently! Check out the full interview with Emily here. And be sure to pick up a copy of Emily's bestselling new book, Come as You Are: The Surprising New Science that Will Transform Your Sex Life!
