Default I Found That the Sun Will Rise Tomorrow

Hello friends, family, and the cyber world!

My name is Anna Snapp, and I am here on HuffPost to write about my journey through rehearsing and performing my autobiographical one woman show, "I Found That The Sun Will Rise Tomorrow". In this show, I put on many faces. The default is me, Anna, as an actor, but I also play various roles such as doctors, a medical researcher, theatre directors, and other people who have shaped me and impacted me over the years.

I focus on the trials and tribulations of my 24 and a half years of life, primarily the past six years. Having dealt with diagnoses of Crohn's Disease, various bacteria, autoimmune pancreatitis, Bipolar I Disorder, insomnia, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, I look into what all of those mean in the grand scheme of my life and who I am. I have chosen an optimistic title for my show; reminding me every day that despite what life throws at me, tomorrow WILL come, and it's not over. I give myself credit for keeping myself alive even when it felt like the hardest thing to do.

There is a motif in my show: the floor. Whenever I've been depressed, I've found myself on my kitchen floor, lying there so that I could feel something on my body, to make sure I could finally stop feeling numb even just for a moment. But as I discover throughout the journey of the show, the floor is a temporary relief; it's not my friend, it's my enemy. The floor sucks me down and escapes me from reality. The idea of this show is to bring me back to my feet, standing healthy, strong, and powerful.

The performances will be January 26th-28th at the Silver Spring Blackbox (formerly the Roundhouse Theater in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland). I can't wait to continue on this journey with my inspiring mentor and director, David, and to see what discoveries I may make along the way. -- This feed and its contents are the property of The Huffington Post, and use is subject to our terms.
