Morris Chestnut to Make Primetime Debut on FOX's Rosewood

Morris Chestnut will make his primetime debut in FOX's new fall series Rosewood on Wednesday, Sept. 23rd at 8 p.m. The series will be the lead-in to Fox's smash Empire. Rosewood covers the story of top private pathologist Dr. Beaumont Rosewood, Jr. played by Chestnut who partners with a tough-as-nails Miami detective Annalise Villa played by Jaina Lee Ortiz from The After.

The unlikely duo unites at a difficult time for Rosewood. Rosewood, an unperturbed optimist, suffers from a sudden death illness from two former strokes. With limited time for mistakes, Rosewood and detective Annalise Villa are forced to think fast and work smart to solve challenging cases.

"It's a lot of fun playing this character," Chestnut said, "I wanted something different -- fun, light-hearted, comedic."

Though Chestnut played a doctor on Showtime's Nurse Jackie, Chestnut's new character is a new light-hearted role for the 46-year-old actor. Dr. Rosewood is a man who enjoys encouraging people to enjoy life and driving his yellow '59 Pontiac GTO around Miami. Chestnut and Rosewood are both men who see "the glass-half-full".

Chestnut is primarily known for his serious roles in popular films like romantic comedy Best Man franchise and thriller The Perfect Guy, which premiered two weeks ago at No. 1. The film, also starring Sanaa Lathan and Michael Ealy, earned over $26 million in its first weekend. Now Chestnut brings his blockbuster talents to the small screen.

Ultimately Chestnut's new leading role comes with one grave question: Will this crime-solving pathologist be able to beat the clock?
