Create a Thanksgiving Centerpiece Using 5 Supermarket Finds

We are hosting Thanksgiving at our house for the first time this year. It's stressful enough figuring out how to cook for a crowd, let alone spend time and effort decorating the table. When it comes to the centerpiece, I just don't want it to be fussy, and I don't want to kill myself trying to make something nice.

So I decided to take matters into my own hands. I created a challenge for myself: to create a Thanksgiving centerpiece using ONLY THINGS I FOUND AT MY LOCAL SUPERMARKET.

This is what I came up with:



Pretty good, right? I'm telling you, it was really easy (and inexpensive!).

I know you can do it, too. Here are my five steps to a gorgeous Thanksgiving centerpiece:

1) Leaves.
Start by snipping a few branches off your backyard tree or bush, and then layer them in the center of your table. (Live in the city? Ask your grocer or flower store for any broad, big leaves that they use for bouquet fillers.)



2) Veggies.
I used mini pumpkins leftover from Halloween, raw artichokes, and a few acorn squashes (also keep an eye out for butternut squash, or eggplants). Just place them in a zig zag down the table.



3) Fruit.
Small clementines or tangerines are key! Same with raw cranberries. I also opted for some yellow persimmons. You could also go with pomegranates which have a pretty pink /red color and seem more readily available. Just scatter throughout.



4) Candles.
I had these laying around already (I get my candles from IKEA! Best deal ever!), but you can of course get some white pillar candles and tea lights from your supermarket.



5) Rope.
This is totally optional. I just liked the natural texture and I have a ton of it laying around from a few previous DIY projects. You can get this jute rope at any hardware store (or even a drugstore should have it in the office supplies aisle).



So there you have it. A "Supermarket Thanksgiving Centerpiece"! So easy, so quick. And best of all, no fuss.
