Should You Buy A Humidifier With Warm Or Cool Mist?

While the winter season has its perks -- glistening white snow, anyone? -- dryness is certainly not one of them. 

As the temperatures drop, the air can become moistureless and parts of your body like your skin, throat and nasal passages suddenly start feeling super dry. Winter's arid climate can also be damaging to things around your home that rely on hydration to stay healthy and well-kept, such as plants and even hardwood floors. 

Luckily, there's a simple solution: a humidifier. Humidifiers release water vapor to increase the humidity in the air, helping keep things nice and hydrated. The machines come in all shapes and sizes, but are easily classified by their emission of either warm or cool mist. Want to know which one's right for you? As you can see, both types have their advantages. For example, warm mist humidifiers allow for the highest level of moisture saturation, while killing most bacteria with steam. Cool mist humidifiers, on the other hand, use filters to remove impurities and don't make as much noise that may disturb your sleep. 

At the end of the day, both get the job done. It's just up to you to decide what features best suit your preferences and specific needs.
