Fliers looking to recruit new members into the Ku Klux Klan began circulating in a neighborhood in Mobile, Alabama, at the start of Martin Luther King Day weekend.
Messages stuffed inside sandwich bags, which were first reported by TV station WPMI compared the white supremacist hate group to civil rights organizations like the NAACP. "The blacks have NAACP, the Mexicans have La Raza, the Jews have JDL, and white people have the KKK," said the notes, which also wished a happy birthday to Dr. King. cmon and join fam pic.twitter.com/16WJDLA8GB The station reported one resident estimated that 50 neighbors received the flier, apparently from the Loyal White Knights chapter of the KKK. They're based in North Carolina. It's reminiscent of past KKK leafleting campaigns, such as one last year in Selma and Montgomery, Alabama, that coincided with the 50th anniversary of the Bloody Sunday march for voting rights led by King. A Klan official said that 4,000 fliers were distributed last year. -- This feed and its contents are the property of The Huffington Post, and use is subject to our terms.
