Default Couple Tries Truly Bizarre Gag-Inducing Recipes From The 1950s

What do you do when you get your hands on a bizarre cookbook from the 1950s? Try out the recipes for yourself, of course.

That's exactly what Hank of YouTube channel, vlogbrothers, decided to do after his wife, Katherine, received her grandmother's old recipe diary. Katherine's grandmother filled the book with clippings of strange and unusual creations she found in newspapers and magazines in the 1940s and '50s.

We've written in the past about the horrible childhood foods many post 50s had to endure growing up, from bologna and Spam to cottage cheese salad and liver. Yuck.

With names like "Golden Rabbit" made from two Campbell's soups, beer salad dressing and "Mexican Chop Suey," you can only imagine how some of the recipes turned out.

Check out the video for yourself to see what happened when the couple whipped up some of the concoctions for themselves.

You might just lose your appetite. Forever.
