Trumpenhauser Syndrome. New addition to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. The Trumpenhauser syndrome was recently included in the professional manual used by mental health professionals. According to the DSM-IV-TR diagnostic criteria for delusional disorders, grandiose-type symptoms include grossly exaggerated beliefs of:
- Self-worth
- Power
- Knowledge
- Identity
exceptional relationship to a divinity or famous person - in this case himself. He may believe that he is King Donald of Trumpania - a Ruritanian kingdom only found in bad Viennese operettas. He keeps reiterating "The Trumpanians love me." Characteristics are very yellow cornsilk hair, very red angry face, a penchant for mockery of the disabled, and marriage to Eastern Europeans eager to turn their green cards into credit cards. Therapy includes wall building - bankruptcy, and hiding his income tax.
For example, a patient who has fictitious beliefs about his or her power or authority may believe himself or herself to be a ruling monarch who deserves to be treated like royalty. There are substantial differences in the degree of grandiosity (pronounced "grandi-ass-ity) linked with grandiose delusions in different patients. Some patients believe they are God, the Queen of England, a president's son, a famous rock star, and so on. In the most advanced cases the patient believes he is Donald Trump. This is one of the rare mental disorders that can be contagious - it accumulates followers - and is spread by rabid language - no known vaccine at this time but the CDC is working on the development of one - called the truth spreader.
