Default Republican Debate Was 'An Embarrassment' For The GOP, Says Fox News Host Chris Wallace

The Republican presidential debate in Houston last Thursday was “an embarrassment” for the GOP,  Fox News host Chris Wallace said.

The debate was the messiest and nastiest to date. Compared to a “UFC cage fight” or “barroom brawl,” the face-off saw the three top presidential contenders -- Donald Trump, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio -- engage in a barb-filled squabble as moderator Wolf Blitzer looked on helplessly.

While discussing the candidates' debate antics with Bill O’Reilly on Friday, Wallace was unequivocal in his criticism.

“Let me just say, big picture, I thought it was an embarrassment for the Republican party,” said Wallace. “There were a lot of shots taken, a lot of shots scored, but there was precious little vision and almost no discussion of the issues. What are you going to do, how are you going to improve people’s lives?”

Wallace added, “If you saw someone acting presidentially on that stage, you got better eyesight, Bill, than I do.”

O'Reilly responded that John Kasich was the “voice of reason” in the debate as the Ohio governor refrained from mudslinging. O'Reilly also said the GOP race for president appeared to be running purely “on emotion … right now.”
