Default Whoopi Goldberg Wants To Fix Your Period Cramps With Medical Marijuana

Ladies, legal weed is here to give you some relief from those awful menstrual cramps thanks to Whoopi Goldberg.

Goldberg announced Wednesday she is launching a medical marijuana company with "canna-businesswoman" Maya Elisabeth complete with products like edibles, tinctures, topical cream and a THC-infused bath soak to help with period cramps, Vanity Fair reported. The company is called "Whoopi & Maya."

“I want to go nice and slow with this. I don’t want this to be a joke to people. It’s not a joke to women,” Goldberg told USA Today

It certainly is no joke. Menstrual cramps, or throbbing pain in the lower abdomen, can affect women before and during their periods, ranging from annoying to severe enough to impact their daily activities, Mayo Clinic notes. Some women also experience nausea, loose stool, headache and dizziness associated with their periods.

It all began when "The View" co-host, a vape-pen enthusiast who smokes to help alleviate glaucoma headaches, started reaching out to experts to see if there was anything similar already on the market for women. Those experts scoffed at her.

"I have a daughter and two granddaughters who inherited my horrific menstrual cramps," 60-year-old Goldberg told Glamour. "Being a pot smoker for years, I talked to a lot of men in the marijuana business about developing something for period relief, and they always came back with 'That's too niche a market.'"

Um ... what?

"I know! It's like, half of the planet is not a niche market!" she continued. "Most guys don't have any idea what a period is or how it works. It's like, 'There's a vagina, and there's an egg...'"

Products from Whoopi & Maya will only be available in California, due to federal laws.
