Default Why 'House of Cards' and 'Games of Thrones' Are Pretty Much the Same Show

Game of Cards: The House of Thrones

Warning: Minor House of Cards and Game of Thrones spoilers ahead.

House of Cards and Game of Thrones are the same basic show. When you boil it down, each is a collection of morally-ambiguous characters playing a political game of cards.

Without being too spoiler-y, the proverbial House of Cards falls in season four. The various players scramble to pick up the cards against the onslaught of shit that ensues. Players make alliances. Trade cards. Win and lose rounds as they try to reassemble their own house of cards faster than their opponents. They also make dangerous, status quo-disrupting decisions.

Does that not almost sound like a Game of Thrones review? Granted, it's a stretch, but aren't Cersei, Dany, the Red Witch and really all other major characters trying to assemble their own House of Cards? Some are sneaky and manipulative. Others ruthless. And a few trying to fight the real fight.

If that sounds like an entertaining thought, good news: Judging by the way The Walking Dead is going, it's going to be a lot like the comic, which fits the above sort of description. Not only that, but TWD show will interpret the comic's events in its own way. It's been doing that for a while, and if it stays the course, we're going to be seeing a serious card game between Rick and Negan.
