Ericsson W35 Rocket Hub - Can this be used with voice only pay-as-you-go?

Does anyone know if it can take a regular Rogers Pay-As-You-Go SIM without a data plan? I want this to provide DIALTONE ONLY. Can anyone with one try it for me so I know 100% for sure? Thanks. Also, if anyone else knows of any other devices that can provide dialtone over any HSPA...
