Default Will Telus take away our Actiontec V1000 if we drop Optik TV from our bundle?

Currently we have a bundle of Optik TV/Internet 15/Home phone and were given the Actiontec V1000 modem/router. Due to the exorbitant cost we are looking at getting rid of Optik TV. I am wondering if we do this though if Telus will replace the Actiontec V1000 with a different modem? Also if they do is this necessarily a bad thing (eg would whatever they replace it with be likely to be newer and better)?

Additionally can anyone say if it is possible to bridge either the Actiontec V1000 or whatever replacement we might get to our own router if we wanted to so we can change the DNS settings?

Thanks in advance,
BM
