How do I lock onto the 5G network with the new white Telus Hub router?

The new white Tellus wifi HUB router will automatically switch your phone from 5G down to 2.4G if there's a slight dip in signal strength, but then won't switch you back again when you go back to where the 5G signal is strong.
How do I lock it so my phone will only connect using 5G?
Note: I can't disable the 2.4 G band on the router as I need it for other connections in the network.
