Default DNA-assisted mug shots in law enforcement are based on dubious science. So why would Edmonton police use them?
Edmonton police were forced to apologize Thursday after they released a computer-generated image of a Black man based on the profile of DNA collected from a sexual assault victim. The backlash and widespread criticism left many critics wondering: why did they do it in the first place and how did they get it so wrong?
