Default Russian man in Canada who received conscription notice to fight in Ukraine granted refugee status
Trofim Modlyi, 19, who's from Khabarovsk in eastern Russia, was visiting his sister in Alberta when Russia invaded Ukraine last February. He decided to file a refugee claim in Canada because he didn't 'want to kill innocent people in Ukraine.'
