Quick data point: anyone else notice how much better the restaurant scene in Calgary has gotten? Like we're legitimately competing with Vancouver and Montreal now on the food front.

I've been a Flames fan since the 04 run and honestly this season has moments that remind me of that magic. Just need consistency.

Also worth mentioning: just want to add - if you're new to Calgary, download the Calgary Transit app and explore the C-Train system. It's not perfect but it gets you around the core pretty well.

If you're buying from a dealership in Calgary, get everything in writing. The verbal promises mean nothing. And always check the vehicle history independently - don't just trust their word.

Good luck!

New arena talk keeps going back and forth. I love the Dome for nostalgia but we genuinely need a modern facility. Hoping it actually happens this time.

Property taxes in Calgary are definitely going up but honestly they're still way better than what my friends pay in Toronto or Vancouver. And no land transfer tax in Alberta which saved us thousands.
I'd recommend talking to at least 3 different mortgage brokers. The rate difference between them can be significant and it adds up over 25 years.

Hope that helps.
