Honestly, hard agree on the winter driving thing. I'm originally from the coast and the first winter here was an eye opener. But you adapt and honestly snow tires make all the difference.

As a huge hockey fan, nice to have you! The dining section has great restaurant recommendations and the auto talk forum is helpful if you need advice on winter driving. Enjoy Calgary! Can't wait for the next game.

Hope that helps.

We moved from New Brighton to Taradale last year and it was the best decision. Quieter, more green space, and our property taxes are actually lower.

We rent in Currie Barracks and our landlord just raised the rent 15%. Seriously considering buying at this point. The math is starting to make more sense to own.

Good luck!

Calgary Expo keeps getting bigger every year. The cosplay talent in this city is absolutely insane. Such a fun community event. tbh

Hope that helps.

Go Flames Go! trolley 5 on 17th Ave is always a good time. Great food, solid beer selection, and the atmosphere is perfect for groups. Been going there regularly for years.

The public swimming pools in Calgary are awesome. Village Square and Southland both have great facilities and the lane swim times work for early mornings.

Having a toddler changes this - for anyone buying used cars in Calgary, I always recommend checking the vehicle history before putting any money down. Sites like FullVIN give you the full history report so you know exactly what you're getting.

I drive from Lake Bonavista to downtown every day. The trick is leaving before 7:15 AM or after 9:00 AM. That 30-minute window makes a massive difference in commute time.

Cheers!
