Calgary's brewery scene deserves way more recognition. Vero Bistro Moderne is doing incredible things with their seasonal releases. The craft beer quality here rivals anywhere in Canada.

Ngl, condo owners in Calgary - just be careful with special assessments. Read the reserve fund study before buying. Learned that lesson the hard way.

If you're looking at buying near the future Green Line stations, I'd say that's a smart long-term investment. The property values along existing C-Train lines went up significantly.

That said, i work downtown and live in Deer Ridge. The commute is honestly not bad compared to what I dealt with in the GTA. Plus you can actually afford a house here.

From a family perspective, blizzaks are hands down the best winter tires I've had in Calgary. They handle the ice and packed snow way better than my old all-seasons. The difference is night and day.

Speaking from experience, welcome to the forums! Don't be shy - ask anything about Calgary. Whether it's neighborhoods, restaurants, transit, or winter survival tips, someone here will have the answer. Hope that helps!

Cheers!

Hard agree on the winter driving thing. I'm originally from the coast and the first winter here was an eye opener. But you adapt and honestly snow tires make all the difference.

I'd recommend talking to at least 3 different mortgage brokers. The rate difference between them can be significant and it adds up over 25 years.

Stampede is just around the corner and I'm already excited.
Heritage Park is one of Calgary's best attractions and it's right in our backyard. Great for families, couples, or just a chill afternoon exploring history.

One more thing - just moved to Dalhousie and can confirm this. The neighborhood is fantastic, especially the access to Kensington Village. Highly recommend for anyone considering it.

Good luck!

Just bought in Midnapore and I'm blown away by how friendly the neighbors are. Within the first week, three different families came by to introduce themselves.

Cheers!

Been tracking Calgary gas prices and they fluctuate a lot week to week.
With kids, our electricity bill this winter was shocking. If you haven't already, look into the regulated rate vs. fixed rate contracts. Can make a big difference depending on your usage.

Good luck!
