One thing I've learned: if walkability is your priority, you really can't beat the inner city neighborhoods like Kensington, Beltline, or Mission. Everything you need is within walking distance.

Just bought in Belmont and I'm blown away by how friendly the neighbors are. Within the first week, three different families came by to introduce themselves.

One thing I've learned: daycare costs in Calgary are coming down with the federal $10/day program but the waitlists are ridiculous. Get on the list as soon as possible - like before the kid is born. Hope that helps!

Good luck!

Took my daughter to her first Flames game last week. Seeing her face light up when they scored was absolutely priceless. Creating a new generation of fans!

Cheers!

Sports-wise, property taxes in Calgary are definitely going up but honestly they're still way better than what my friends pay in Toronto or Vancouver. And no land transfer tax in Alberta which saved us thousands.

AWD is nice for Calgary winters but honestly good winter tires on a front-wheel drive car will outperform all-seasons on an AWD every single time. Don't skip the tires thinking AWD will save you. Go Flames!

Hope that helps.

We're in Scarboro and honestly the only downside is the commute to downtown. But if you work from home or work in the south, it's absolutely perfect.

Good luck!
