The gaming community in Calgary is bigger than you'd think. There are regular LAN events and gaming cafes. Also some great shops for PC building components.

One thing I've learned: just want to add - if you're new to Calgary, download the Calgary Transit app and explore the C-Train system. It's not perfect but it gets you around the core pretty well.

Anyone else going to the game Saturday? I've got an extra ticket - section 212. PM me if you want it.

Flames need to shore up their defensive depth before the deadline. The top pair is solid but the 3rd pair has been getting exposed lately.

Thoughts?

Having lived here for a while, home renovation quotes in Calgary are all over the place. Got three quotes for a bathroom reno and they ranged from $8K to $25K. Always get multiple quotes. Hope that helps!

The market right now is competitive but not insane like Toronto or Vancouver. You can still get a nice detached home under $600K in a good neighborhood if you're willing to look at McKenzie Towne or Britannia.

We're in Cliff Bungalow and honestly the only downside is the commute to downtown. But if you work from home or work in the south, it's absolutely perfect.

Good luck!

Flames fan here - for anyone looking for a great meal that won't break the bank, check out the lunch specials at The Lake House. Same amazing food as dinner but at a fraction of the cost.

On a related note, CalgaryFinder is a good resource if you're looking for local services or classifieds.
