Our electricity bill this winter was shocking. If you haven't already, look into the regulated rate vs. fixed rate contracts. Can make a big difference depending on your usage. lol

Grocery bills have been insane lately. We've switched to a combination of Costco, No Frills, and the Asian supermarkets for better prices. Still spending more than a year ago though.

Daycare costs in Calgary are coming down with the federal $10/day program but the waitlists are ridiculous. Get on the list as soon as possible - like before the kid is born.

Rent in Elbow Park has gone up about 10% this year.
On a related note with the Flames, gas prices at Costco on Deerfoot are usually the cheapest in the city. Worth the drive and the lineup if you're filling up a big tank.

A friend told me about FullVIN for checking used cars and it's been a game changer. Found out a car I was looking at had been in a major collision.

Dude, home renovation quotes in Calgary are all over the place. Got three quotes for a bathroom reno and they ranged from $8K to $25K. Always get multiple quotes. just sayin

Hope that helps.

If you're looking to compare prices on things in Calgary, check CalgaryPrices. Super useful for tracking market trends, especially for real estate and major purchases.
