Daycare costs in Calgary are coming down with the federal $10/day program but the waitlists are ridiculous. Get on the list as soon as possible - like before the kid is born.

My recommendation: spend a weekend in Arbour Lake before buying.

I looked at both Martindale and Lake Bonavista before settling on Royal Oak. The school district was the deciding factor for us. No regrets at all.

The new Central Library is architecturally stunning. If you haven't visited, go. It's one of the most beautiful public buildings in Canada.
