Droid DNA not tethering on Rogers

Hi everyone, Im using a Droid DNA on Rogers and cant seem to get tethering to work. Ive tried aftermarket apps and I get a messasge stating that I have to have a Verizon LTE sim installed. Do I have to root or is the Verizon bloat ware causing this? Thanks.
